Dumb Ways to Die Characters Revamped for the Holiday Season
You may have sworn to not do dumb stuff around trains in November 2012 but since then the colorful characters of the Dumb Ways to Die advertising campaign of the Melbourne Metro is back with a vengeance this Holiday season.
The Dumb Ways to Die song which was sung by Tangerine Kitty, starts with an example of “dumb ways to die”, the song includes lines such as:
Stand on the edge of a train station platform
Drive around the boom gates at a level crossing
Run across the tracks between the platforms
They may not rhyme but they’re quite possibly
Dumbest ways to die…
After appearing in newspapers, local radio, and outdoor advertising throughout the Metro Trains network, the public service announcement campaign went viral and the rest as they say, is history.
As part of the Dumb Ways to Die outdoor media, the iconic characters are now decked out sporting santa hats and holiday decor to fit this season’s holiday cheer. The Melbourne Metro trains are covered with the colorful outdoor media that shows the holiday spirit reflected on the memorable characters. The characters still pose as a constant reminder to not be “Dumb” and stick with the train network safety rules, but at the same time, they wish commuters a safe and joyous holiday season.
It’s like saying: Be safe around trains, ok? But do be happy during the holidays! But seriously though, trains are not to be messed with. Take a colorful character with you!
